Yes, I'm Her Mom, but I'm Still Impressed

In a recent post, I mentioned that Taylor was working on another sewing project, this one totally from scratch. Well, she finished it with VERY impressive results. I know she is my daughter, so I might be a bit partial, so see what you think.....

This lovely retro fabric....
and using a pattern....she began to cut out the shapes of fabric needed.....

Then she began to sew......and sew.....and sew........until she emerged from her room with this lovely new, retro garment....

With a couple of very minor alterations, it fit her perfectly. It looks so lovely and flattering on her. And it took her less than two days to complete. Wow.

I don't know about you, but

I'm impressed.

Wow, that inspires me to really teach my girls to sew. I bought them a machine for Christmas but we haven't done much with it. I too have 3 girls and a boy. Nice blog!

Mom, I'll tell Taylor what you wrote. I'm sure she'll appreciate it. :-)

Elizabeth, Thanks for your kind words. I actually only sew by hand, so when my daughter showed a strong interest in machine sewing, I got her lessons with a friend of mine. It was just a brief intro to it, but it was enough for us to see that she loved it. So we got her a machine, and she's taught herself from there! She uses library books and I think videos from blogs and websites.
So neat that you have 3 girls and a boy, too! I'm wondering if your boy has 4 "mothers" like my son does. lol :-)

Well the littlest one is only 2 1/2 so he still gets to boss her around, and the 10-yr-old is a very mellow middle child who doesn't boss him, but my 11-yr-old is constantly playing second mother to him.
