At Skylar's club, she enjoyed learning about 5 of our past presidents, the election process and even participated in a mock election. This club is called Patriots and teaches something about America every month.
Alexa is in Little Flowers and at this meeting they learned about Saint Catherine of Sienna and the virtue of faith. They learned a song, a prayer and did a craft. She's really enjoying being a part of this group.
Taylor was in with the 3 and 4 year olds. She assists a little boy with special needs and helps the teacher as an apprentice. She said she thinks Evan would enjoy participating in this club, but he's just not old enough. There's always next year.
I dropped the girls off at these club meetings, then went to Target for a few things. After I picked them up, they ate their lunches on the way to their Girls of St. Francis Club. This time they got to make lanterns for Martinmas and then took their usual hike through the woods (except Alexa's group, which played in the yard). We are planning to get together next month on the 9th for a Martinmas celebration complete with a cookout, bonfire and lantern lit walk in the woods while (possibly) singing St. Martin's Song. I've never participated in any kind of Martinmas celebration before, but I've read about them and they always sounded so fun and memorable for the kids. I think Skylar especially will enjoy this.
Friday night, Taylor's friend came over and brought a game to play with the girls, then watched a movie with Taylor.
Saturday I spent the day doing laundry and John and I focused on house cleanup. The kids played outside some, inside some, but we didn't go anywhere. It was a beautiful day outside, but I just wasn't in the mood to head out in to traffic and chaos.
Today was another relaxing day. We stayed home, other than going to Mass. It was Donut Sunday at our church, which is always a thrill. I made dinner in the slow cooker (still love that thing). John and Taylor went to Costco towards evening, then John went to the gym tonight.
Wow.....this must be really boring to read.
I'll end this with some highlights of last weeks Teatime for Our Lady of the Rosary.
I had actually planned on having this Teatime on the 8th, which would have been a day late. But I've been doing that so much lately, I thought it would be nice to have the Teatime on the actual day for once. But, I must confess, I wasn't ready for it. I had planned to make pull rosaries, and needed to get supplies for it. Instead of stressing over it, I just had to remember that the craft does not "make" the Teatime special. It's already special because of it's significance in the liturgical year.
So I decided to be creative with what we already have. I pulled down a box of blueberry muffin mix a baked some mini muffins. I thought I'd attempt to arrange them into a decade of the Rosary, but it didn't turn out so well. No biggie. Then, although the pull rosary wasn't going to happen, I still had to do some craft or activity. My girls would not settle for less. Hmmm....what to do? Go to visit Waltzing Matilda! I knew she would have the answer! And she did.
She had these lovely Our Lady of the Rosary coloring pages ready to be printed out. And I also printed out a sheet with an image of the rosary to color that I found here .

Well, that's what's been going on here lately. Hope I didn't put you to sleep.....unless you've been having trouble sleeping, lately, and needed a good snooze. In which case...
you're welcome.

Aren't you funny. Don't underestimate yourself. You were very busy people and maybe it's just me (your Mom) but I found it all very interesting. The girls are involved in many groups that I'm sure they enjoy. And the way you come up with last-minute inspirations for your tea times is .....inspirational!! No going to sleep here! (But that was a cute ending to your blog!) Love and miss you all!
